Abstract
Introduction: Dengue is an acute febrile disease transmitted by the Aedes mosquito and ranks among the most important tropical diseases in public health. The state of Goiás has seen a rise in dengue cases, necessitating an exposition of its clinical-epidemiological profile. Objective: To describe the clinical-epidemiological profile of reported dengue cases between 2018 and 2022. Methodology: An epidemiological, descriptive, retrospective, and quantitative study was conducted using public data obtained through TabNet – DATASUS. The variables described included age, gender, virus serotype, month of notification, dengue classification, hospitalization, case progression, race/color, education level, hospitalization per month, monthly fatalities, and the number of cases by municipalities in the Goiânia Metropolitan Region. Results: During the analyzed period, 541,485 probable cases were reported, with a peak in 2022 and a low in 2020. The predominant profile was female, mixed-race, with complete high school education. The highest number of cases occurred from February to May, consisting of dengue cases, no hospitalization, recovery, and serotype 1. In the metropolitan region, the standout areas were Goiânia, Aparecida de Goiânia, Senador Canedo, Trindade, and Inhumas. Final Remarks: Dengue remains a considerable challenge in the state of Goiás. It is crucial for scientists, healthcare professionals, government authorities, and society at large to continue collaborating in addressing dengue.
