Abstract
Introduction: Protocols support decision-making by health professionals, based on the best scientific evidence. In Brazil, a diversified nomenclature is used to name the protocols, with the Usage Protocol (UP) being the most unknown type. Objective: To understand the opinion of Brazilian experts in health technology assessment on the Usage Protocol. Methods: The Modified Delphi Method was used. Non-probabilistic sample, followed by the “snowball” technique. Data collection in two rounds: 1) online interviews with open questions; and 2) sending a form with quantitative questions, based on the answers from the first round. Results: In the first round, I spoke with 12 experts and there was consensus on the relevance of creating and using the Use Protocol. In the second round, with 10 experts, an average consensus rate of 88.75% was evidenced, relating to factors such as guarantee legitimacy of the document; solutions from an interdisciplinary protocol; and focus on approaching processes and procedures. Conclusions: The research allowed us to know the opinion of experts, deepening the concept and establishing recommendations for the construction of the Use Protocol, helping health professionals in the management of patients dependent on technological devices.
