Abstract

Introduction: Given the impact of occupational activity on an individual's life and the importance of preserving the worker's health, while respecting the public health policies that are directed towards this population, it is clear that practice activities of workplace visits by medical students to evaluate the occupational health conditions and the exposure to risk factores are highly relevant for training of critical and aware professionals on this theme. Knowledge about occupational health encourages a better symptomatological investigation by future professionals and the practice teaching-learning activities favors the consolidation of the acquired and experienced content. Objective: The present study aims to analyze the impact of the observational technical visit and its results on the learning of Workers' Health in medical training, based on the report of an academic experience. Methodology: The present study is an experience report regarding a technical-observational visit conducted to an state hospital of south-west Goias by fourth period undergraduates of the Medicine program from a Federal Institution of Higher Education. Results: The students visited different sections of the hospital, where, through observation and dialogue with the staff, they were able to evaluate the occupational context, pointing items that were in accordance with Regulatory Standards and that guaranteed occupational safety. The practice was followed by a moment of discussion and reflection, which allowed the observed experiences to be associated with theory and current standarts on worker's health. Conclusion: The technical-observational visit permitted the students to consolidate their theoretical knowledge with the everyday practice of occupational health, identifying the workplace hazards and the adherence to safety standards within the healthcare environment.
