Abstract

Introduction: Teenage pregnancy is a high-risk pregnancy, as these pregnant women are part of the group of women most affected by obstetric complications, with great potential for unfavorable neonatal outcomes. Objective: To analyze unfavorable perinatal outcomes in pregnant adolescents with inadequate prenatal care. Methods: Descriptive, exploratory study with a quantitative approach and cross-sectional design, with secondary data collection from pregnant adolescent women who underwent prenatal care and childbirth in a high-risk public maternity hospital in the Central Region of Brazil, from January to June 2023 , totaling 189 participants. Results: The occurrence of inadequate prenatal care was 41.3% (95% CI: 33.9-48.1), showing a significant association with preterm birth (p=> 0.001; PR: 1.68; CI 95%: 1.34-2.11), vaginal birth (p=> 0.041; PR: 1.47; 95% CI: 0.99-2.17), urine infection (p=> 0.001; PR: 7.61; 95% CI: 2.57-22.5), routine 1st trimester exams (p=> 0.001; PR: 2.40; 95% CI: 1.83-3.12), restriction intrauterine growth (p=>0.022; PR: 3.27; 95% CI 1.26-8.59) prolonged hospitalization (p=>0.030; PR: 1.47, 95% CI: 1.05-2, 06). Final considerations: Pregnant teenagers with inadequate prenatal care have a greater chance of unfavorable obstetric and neonatal perinatal outcomes. The importance of adequate prenatal care and training of health professionals is reinforced.
