Abstract
Introduction: Organ transplantation is a type of treatment for organs at an advanced stage. In Brazil, four potential donors are needed to successfully collect organs and, consequently, save lives. There are several factors that promote this reality and one of them is taking care of the potential donor to keep the organ eligible. Objective: To evaluate the multidisciplinary care provided to the potential donor to carry out the donation. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional, descriptive study, with a quantitative approach. Data collection was carried out in four ICUs of a reference emergency and trauma hospital in the state of Goiás, using a semi-structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed statistically and categorized in spreadsheets from the SPPS statistical program. Results: This study identified controversies regarding mechanical ventilation and presented other non-compliant care. Conclusion: It was possible to see scientific unpreparedness and outdated healthcare staff regarding patient care, although satisfactory practice was maintained.
