Abstract

Introduction: Cranioencephalic trauma is a relevant public health problem worldwide, with important economic repercussions and high impact on lost years of life. Objective: To describe the epidemiological profile of patients admitted by cranioencephalic trauma in the Midwest region of Brazil. Materials and Methods: Descriptive, Quantitative and Retrospective Study with data analysis of the Hospital Information System of the Unified Health System (SIH/SUS). The variables considered were year, local, head of head trauma, gender, age group, race, mortality rate, average permanence and value spent by hospitalization. The data were analyzed with funds from descriptive epidemiology and presented with the aid of tables. RESULTS: Data pointed out that the patient profile hospitalized for cranioencephalic trauma in the Midwest region of Brazil is predominantly formed by individuals male (77.33%), brown (47.10%), age 20 to 29 years (47.10%) ( 16.10%), whose character of service was urgent (89.38%). Each patient cost an average of R $ 1,895.68 to the public coffers, the mortality rate was an average of 8.84 and the average permanence of patients in the hospital was six days. Conclusion: The analysis of the epidemiological profile of hospitalizations can guide the preparation of preventive measures aimed at local needs.
