Abstract

BSTRACT

 

Introduction: preceptorship in the health area is practiced based on individualized actions and strategies, where each preceptor has the mission of expanding opportunities for the apprentice to obtain the desired knowledge. Objective: to understand the preceptor's role in managing a residency program for effective teaching. Method: an integrative literature search of scientific articles was carried out, published in the last five years, from 2018 to 2023. Collected in the Lilacs and Medline databases, in the Virtual Health Library (VHL) from the Health Science Descriptors (DeCS): preceptorship and health education. Results: from the inclusion criteria adopted, 77 articles were obtained, and after further reading, 20 articles were selected to compose the discussion. Discussion: preceptorship promotes articulation between theory and practice, stimulating not only the residents' management and decision-making process, but above all, encouraging an increase in the quality of health services offered to the population. Conclusion: it is up to the preceptor to organize and present knowledge in detail to the learner through teaching strategies aimed at analyzing real issues, encouraging debates and sharing experience, to leverage the construction of knowledge and consequently ensure professional training.
