Abstract

Objective: To analyze the epidemiological profile of Human Visceral Leishmaniasis (LVH) in the municipalities of the micro-region of Pirapora. Methods: The epidemiological data of cases of HVL notified in the micro-region of Pirapora were described and analyzed, from 2016 to 2020, evaluating time (annual number of cases per year), by place (municipality) and person (gender, age group, opportunity for diagnosis and notification of the suspected case and final case, estimation of incidence and deaths). Results: 33 cases of HVL were reported and confirmed, distributed in six municipalities. Of these, 27 (81.82%) were men and three (75.5%) were women, the most prevalent age group was people aged 40 - 59 years. The highest number of positive records was in 2017 (15.15%) with an incidence of 8.5 people. In the same year, one (3.03%) individual died. Conclusions: The Pirapora microregion is characterized as an endemic area for HVL due to the high incidence of cases of the disease. Prevention and control measures must be designed to prevent new individuals from becoming infected.
