Abstract
This study aims to verify the factors that influence the parturient in choosing the parturition route: normal or surgical. This article is an integrative literature review with articles dated from 2010 to 2020, taken from the bases of Scielo (Scientific Electronic Library Online) and LILACS (Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Science and Health). Seven dimensions were identified that reflect the factors that influence the parturient woman when choosing the mode of delivery: pain or absence at the time of delivery; pain or absence in the postpartum period; postpartum recovery; risk of infection and bleeding; previous experience; influence of family and doctors and sterilization. It was identified that the factors that most influence pregnant women in choosing the mode of delivery are fear of pain in childbirth and recovery in the postpartum period.
