Abstract

Introduction: Non-Pharmacological Methods for pain relief are strategies and tools used during labor to manage the pain experienced by the birthing person as effectively as possible. Objective: To analyze the influencing factors and the effectiveness of adherence to non-pharmacological methods for pain relief during labor. Methodology: This is a quantitative, cross-sectional study conducted with postpartum women who gave birth at a low-risk maternity hospital in Goiás. Data collection took place from June 2024 to September 2024. The data were grouped using Microsoft Office Excel 2019® for statistical analysis and analyzed using SPSS version 3.5. Results: The sample consisted of 99 postpartum women aged between 18 and 42 years, with a mean age of 26.67. Among the most frequently used methods, warm baths stood out, used by 78.8% of the participants, with 77.8% reporting positive effects in relieving labor pain. Of the methods offered, warm baths showed the best performance, with a positive effect in 60.6% of respondents. There was a statistically significant association between the lack of adherence to NPM during labor and the absence of information about these methods during prenatal care. Additionally, there was a statistically significant association between the presence of pain and the absence of NPM use (p=<0.0000001). Conclusion: MNF are safe, low-cost, easily applicable and highly effective soft-hard technologies for managing pain during childbirth, with the knowledge offered in prenatal care being a factor that determines the use of the methods and the warm bath being the most effective.
